Simple dairy free ranch dressing tastes great on a salad, in a wrap, or as a dip for wings & veggies.
My husband’s favorite food is pizza. And when he eats pizza, he likes to dip it in ranch dressing. He’s the one who introduced me to the combo and it’s pretty tasty! But sadly, his pizza eating and ranch dipping caught up to him a few years ago. Dairy products cause him all types of problems now, so he’s had to cut most of them out of his diet.
If we do order pizza these days, he gets his with no cheese (or regrets it later). He’s a good sport about it, but I know losing cheese is especially tough for a pizza lover like himself. However, the good news is he can still dip his cheese-less pizza in ranch dressing because we have this dairy free alternative! It’s an easy recipe that we also use with chicken wings, baby carrots & other raw veggies, BBQ chicken salad, and buffalo chicken wraps.
Note: This recipe is dairy free, but it contains eggs from the mayonnaise.
Ingredients for Dairy Free Ranch Dressing:
- Unsweetened Original Almond Milk
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Mayonnaise
- Parsley (Dried)
- Dill Weed (Dried)
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Salt
- Pepper
How to make Dairy Free Ranch Dressing:
1) Combine the unsweetened almond milk and apple cider vinegar in a measuring cup or small container and set it aside for 5 minutes. The almond milk will start to separate during this time, so don’t be alarmed.
2) Add mayonnaise, parsley, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to a small bowl. The dill weed has a strong flavor so use a scant 1/4 teaspoon, which just means use slightly less than a full 1/4 teaspoon. Pour the almond milk and vinegar mixture on top. Use a whisk to combine thoroughly. Keep whisking until the dressing is smooth and creamy. (As the recipe is written, the dressing is not quite as thick as the store-bought version. For a thicker dressing, add a little bit of the almond milk mixture at a time and whisk after each addition until desired consistency is reached.)
3) Use your dairy free ranch immediately or place it in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. It will thicken up some as it chills. Lasts 3-4 days in the fridge.
