Easy, healthy banana pancakes made with a few ingredients and naturally sweetened. Top with peanut butter or honey for a wholesome snack.
Our kids love these easy healthy banana pancakes.
We actually don’t eat these pancakes for breakfast (but you can if you like!). We eat them for snack.
They’re not as sweet as a typical pancake because no sugar is added to the recipe. No worries though, the pancakes are naturally sweetened by the bananas. They’re good enough to eat plain, but we like them even better topped with peanut butter or honey!
The recipe is really simple to make. Watch our kids make their own pancakes here:
Recipe adapted from The Lazy Dish
Ingredients in Healthy Banana Pancakes:
Ripe Bananas
Eggs
Rolled Oats
Cinnamon
Ground Flax Seed
Vanilla Extract
Chopped Walnuts (optional)
How to Make Healthy Banana Pancakes:
1) Add bananas, eggs, rolled oats, cinnamon, ground flax seed, and vanilla extract (all of the ingredients except for walnuts) to a large mixing bowl.
2) Blend with a hand mixer on low speed until ingredients are well combined.
3) Preheat a large skillet on medium low, then brush with a little olive oil to keep pancakes from sticking.
4) Add pancake batter to skillet, dividing to make 6-8 small pancakes. Keeping the pancakes small helps them hold together better. Only cook a few pancakes at a time to give yourself room for flipping.
5) (Optional) Sprinkle the tops with chopped walnuts while bottom side cooks.
6) Flip after 4-5 minutes (pancakes should flip easily) and cook the other side another 4 minutes, or until pancakes are cooked through.
7) Repeat steps 4-6 for the remaining batter.
8) Serve your healthy banana pancakes plain or topped with peanut butter, honey, applesauce, or whatever you like!
