Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, spooned & leveled
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Place stick of butter in microwave safe dish and microwave until fully melted. Pour melted butter into 9x9 baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.
  • Add milk to dry ingredients and stir until just combined, with no pockets of dry flour remaining. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour biscuit dough into the pan over the melted butter. Use a spoon or spatula to gently spread batter evenly into the corners. Do not stir the batter into the butter.
  • Use a knife to gently cut the dough into 9 squares. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or just until biscuits are golden brown and a toothpick inserted between biscuits comes out clean.
  • Let biscuits rest for at least 5 minutes to absorb all the butter before serving. Enjoy!
